Community Guidelines

Last Updated 18 June 2023

Here’s the thing about humans: We’re a diverse bunch of beings. And HelloHuman.global is a place where people can come together and talk about many different things. Because of this, we’ve developed some ground rules so everyone can feel safe and comfortable using HelloHuman.global.

Whenever you visit a room or communicate with us, you agree to follow the guidelines listed here and encourage others not to violate them.

That’s one of the great things about community — people help each other and hold one another accountable. We’re impressed with how respectful, kind and generous HelloHuman.global people are with one another. Because of this, the overwhelming majority of conversations take place without incident. If you see or hear something breaking these community rules, please report it to us so we can take a look. Reports can lead our team to take a number of steps depending on the severity, including issuing a warning or removing someone’s account entirely.

Ok, enough with the preamble. Let’s get into it!

Be yourself (literally)

  • HelloHuman.global is for people. If you are a mythical creature, please consult your local mage/wizard/other magical order. For everyone else, the name you use should be the one you use in real life. We allow pseudonyms in exceptional cases where there is an artistic reason (like a creator name or parody account) or a human rights purpose (like a name you use for safety reasons).

Behaviour that’s not ok

Harassing people

Don’t harass anyone. Don’t make lewd propositions, use extreme insults, or celebrate or mock someone experiencing a tragedy. Don’t doxx people. Don’t share, threaten to share, or incentivise the sharing of other people’s private information.

Hateful or discriminatory speech or conduct

Don’t incite hatred or discriminate against others based on race, religion, national origin, caste, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. This also covers but is not limited to, slurs, insults, and conspiracies. Accounts whose purpose is to promote hateful conduct are prohibited.

Threats of violence

Don’t threaten violence or harm against any individual or group, glorify acts of violence against others, or encourage others to commit acts of violence.

Content that’s not ok

Child endangerment

Don’t do anything to endanger children ever. We prohibit any sexualisation of or solicitation of minors and any content that may endanger their welfare. This includes sharing suggestive, sexual, mature, graphic, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate content with minors. Where appropriate, we report child endangerment to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.

Graphic violence

Don’t share media that includes excessive gore, themes of violence, harm to animals, or other forms of extreme violence that may shock or disgust people.

Harmful misinformation and disinformation

Don’t spread harmful health misinformation; spread misinformation to make money or to manipulate or interfere in elections or other civic processes. Promoting “synthetic” or manipulated media that is intended or likely to cause harm is also prohibited.

Illegal activities and the sale of regulated goods or services

Don’t share unlawful content or use HelloHuman.global to conduct unauthorised or illegal activities, promote illegal activities, or sell or market highly regulated goods and services.

Intellectual property violations

Don’t engage in conversations or upload content that violates intellectual property or other proprietary rights. We will only investigate requests submitted in writing by the rights-holder or their authorised representative.

Sexual exploitation

Don’t share non-consensual sexual images, content that depicts or promotes sexual assault, or content that sexualises the unique attributes of young children in any way, even if that content features actual adults pretending to be children.

Suicide and Self-harm

Don’t encourage or promote acts of self-harm or suicide. If you need support, it’s available. Visit https://www.findahelpline.com and enter the country you’re in to find free, confidential help.

Terrorism or violent extremism

Don’t do anything that praises or promotes terrorism, violence, or illegal terror groups. These organisations are neither welcome nor allowed on HelloHuman.global, and the existence of accounts or use of accounts to further violent or extremist ideologies or activities is prohibited.

Nudity

Just don’t. No shirt, no bra, no pants, no undies, no service. We don’t allow nudity or pornographic images on HelloHuman.global.

Other things that just kind of suck

Artificial behaviour

Don’t misrepresent or misuse your account in ways that could confuse other users.

False reporting

Please don’t abuse our reporting systems. Mass fake incident report submissions or otherwise intentionally false reports of Community Guidelines violations are not allowed, and we suspend accounts that abuse reports.

Threats to HelloHuman.global

Don’t threaten our team. We prohibit intentional threats to the HelloHuman.global app, the privacy or security of user accounts, or to HelloHuman.global employees, staff, or partners. This includes but is not limited to, unwanted attempts to contact HelloHuman.global employees, staff, or partners via personal channels, including personal email addresses, phone numbers, in-person visits, or other unauthorised or invasive methods. Attempts to do so will constitute a violation and may be escalated to law enforcement.

What if my issue isn’t covered here?

If someone has not violated any of our guidelines but you’d still rather not continue speaking with them, here are some tools that might help.

  • If someone is being disruptive or distressing to you can exit the room. To do this, hit “Exit.”
  • Let us know about the interaction via the review link you received with your meeting invitation.

One Final Note: Our Commitment to Human Rights

People are the heart of our HelloHuman.global community. When developing our policies (these Community Guidelines), we try hard to balance keeping users safe and respecting fundamental human rights.
